Intelligent Labs Joins The GOED – Global Organization For EPA and DHA Omega-3s

Written by Rus Hughes

On June 15th 2017, Intelligent Labs joined the GOED (Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s) to help express our commitment to our customers and the quality of our Omega-3 products.

GOED is a 501(c)6 not-for-profit trade association whose goals are to help reduce the number of people with omega-3 deficiencies as well as to ensure that the industry is producing high-quality omega-3 products that customers can trust. It’s the only organization to randomly test its members’ products.

Other organizations such as IFOS allow their members to choose which bottles are tested and when by actually allowing companies to send them to the testing facilities themselves. GOED anonymously buy products as a normal consumer would and then test them. It’s an important and unique approach that ensures the highest quality standards in the industry.

The roots of GOED go back to the year 2000 when the industry collaborated to petition the US FDA to establish a heart disease risk reduction claim for omega-3s. In the last 10 years, the GOED has worked with the US FDA, Canada and EU to establish dietary reference intakes for EPA and DHA, publish numerous papers on oxidation, contaminants and heart health benefits of omega-3s, develop a code of ethics for its member base as well as a voluntary monograph to set the gold standard for omega-3 products and so much more!

Not Just Another Logo

We joined GOED because their mission statement is congruent with ours, we have been living up to their standards anyway so wanted to network with more like-minded businesses to help keep our standards high and make the industry better. When we started Intelligent Labs it was during a time when we were witnessing big companies, companies that you thought you could trust, stocking their shelves with fake supplements. And big brands using our personal heroes to market subpar products. The foundation of our mission statement is to not be like those guys.

GOED have published a Code of Ethics and Business Practices, with all members espousing a commitment to the values of personal integrity, ethical corporate behaviour and holding customer safety, your safety, paramount, all things we believe in from a business perspective and a personal perspective. The Code of Ethics covers 4 main bases:

  1. Conformity
  2. Fair and Honest Business Practices
  3. Rules on Product Claims
  4. Penalties for Failure to Adhuere to the Ethical Code of Conduct

By joining the GOED we have literally put our money where our mouth is!

We Set Out To Be The Best And We Are

There’s a famous saying

Don’t Tell People Your Dreams, Show Them.

You can see the quality and purity of our fish oil as it’s a perfect 2 on the gardener scale, you can taste how fresh our fish oil is as there is almost no taste, just like a fresh fish with a hint of lemon and you can smell how fresh our fish oil is because there is no smell, but we also like to back up our senses with science!

As a GOED member all our fish oil must meet the strict quality standards of the GOED Voluntary Monograph, the industry definition of quality since 2002. Developed to help ensure that omega-3 oils reaching consumers were both safe and of high quality, the companies that participated in developing the Monograph incorporated the strictest quality and purity standards from regulations around the world.

The standards are actually stricter than any single regulatory body in the world, with randomized testing programs involving independent, third party, certified laboratories ensuring all our products meet the GOED specifications for quality, with respect to oxidation, environmental contaminants, heavy metals and fatty acids.

We didn’t have to do this, but we wanted to show our customers just how much we value them and believe in the quality of our products as well as raise the bar for ourselves to ensure we keep meeting your needs. Thank you for trusting us with your health.
